Want to Intern with the New York Yankees?

Get your foot in the door with the New York Yankees

Working for a professional sports team is a goal of many, but achieved by few. Think about it, if you worked for a professional team, better yet YOUR professional team, would you ever leave that job? That is the problem, very low turnover for team jobs.

It was always my dream, but something I didn’t pursue the right way. Looking back, I would have gotten my foot in the door with an internship, worked my tail off, built my network of team contacts and then tried mightily to get hired full-time.

Now is the time to start pursuing those internship opportunities, if you’re a baseball fan this might be the coolest internship opportunity I’ve seen yet.

New York Yankees – Player Development Video Operations (Tampa, FL)

Interns will be responsible for filming and data input for all 2010 New York Yankee Minor League Affiliate home games for Scranton Wilkes-Barre (Pennsylvania) (AAA), Trenton Thunder (New Jersey) (AA), Tampa Yankees (Florida) (A+), Charleston River Dogs (South Carolina) (A-), Staten Island Yankees (New York) (SSA), Gulf Coast League (Rookie) (Tampa, FL), and any other jobs assigned by Baseball Operations Staff.

Amateur Scouting Video Interns will be responsible for charting (2) college games a day, handling video entered by Amateur Scouting staff, potentially obtaining video on local prospects in the area, and any other jobs assigned by the Amateur Scouting Department

• Videotape each home game from various angles as directed by Player Development Staff
• Capture selected video clips using BATS video coaching system
• Input game data using BATS video coaching system
• Chart each home game for assigned affiliate and other Minor League games; must be able to decipher between different pitch repertoires
• Organize and archive any current and past video

• Assist minor league coaching staff and players with any video needs before, during and after minor league games
• Assist Yankees Hitting, Pitching, Defense, Field Coordinators and Yankees Player Development staff with any video requests.
• Assist Amateur Scouting Department with video needs in preparation for June First Year Player Draft
• Film video on local prospects for Amateur Scouting Department
• Chart college games and breakdown information for Amateur Scouting Department
When I interned, I watched other people do a lot of work and was told “don’t touch”,  this sounds like a great opportunity to get hands-on inside the game of baseball from many angles.
