brian clapp founder sportstvjobs.comBrian Clapp, Co-Founder: Brian is a 13-year veteran of the Sports TV industry with experience as a Writer, Producer, Video Editor and News Director. He has held stints at both CNN/Sports Illustrated and Fox Sports Net Northwest. Brian was destined for a career in sports ever since he started sneaking out of bed at age seven to watch Celtics games on Channel 38 in Boston. During his Sophomore year at the University of Delaware, he declared his major in Communication/TV Production and the rest is history.

In 2010 Brian decided to put his knowledge of the sports media industry to good use by creating SportsTVJobs.com. Our primary objective is to be the leading resource for aspiring sports media professionals.

John McKenzie: John has 14 years of experience selling promotions, sponsorships, and advertising packages for local and network sports programming on network affiliates. He’s sold the World Series, Super Bowl, NBA Finals, and Stanley Cup plus the BCS, golf, NASCAR and local high school sports. Doing sports marketing for TV stations combined two of John’s three biggest passions: TV and sports. John grew up in one of the greatest hot beds of sports: Boston. He was fortunate to see Bobby Orr, John Havlicek, Larry Bird, Fred Lynn, Ray Bourque, and many others, play in person.

haley lesavoy gracie award winner guest writer sportstvjobs.comHaley Lesavoy is a Junior in George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs from Allentown, Pennsylvania. She realized she wanted to go into broadcast news at the age of 11, when she anchored for her middle school’s morning announcement show Serendipity Live. In High School, Lesavoy served as anchor of her schools award winning news show, Parkland Morning News. Her senior year, a short commercial on technology that she wrote and directed won the Grand Prize in Apple’s National Voices of Innovation Contest.

Since coming to George Washington University, Lesavoy has worked for the school newspaper, television and radio stations and currently serves as Director of Productions for GWTV. In addition, she is host of her own music countdown show, Select Seven. She is a two-time Gracie Award Winner, Recipient of the Loreen Arbus Award, has worked as a freelancer for Bloomberg News in New York and currently produces videos for the Washington Post. Lesavoy plans to continue pursuing her career in broadcast journalism and hopes to one day host her own entertainment show.

kara burnham aspiring sports journalist gust writer sportstvjobs.comKara Burnham is a recent graduate of Montclair State University currently on the lookout for a sports production job. Eventually, Kara wants to find her way back to the sidelines as a reporter for a major sports network.

Kara comes from an athletic family where sports has always been a big part of life. Her father played for the Philadelphia Eagles, both of her brothers played Division 1 Football and her sister played College Basketball. Kara was no slouch either, playing both Basketball and Volleyball at Montclair State.

lindsay cash cute aspiring sports reporter guest writer sportstvjobs.com Lindsay Cash is a Junior in Baylor University’s School of Journalism from Frisco, Texas.
At Baylor, Cash works for the school newspaper The Baylor Lariat, interned in sports at KWTX Channel 10, Waco’s CBS affiliate, and at CBS 11/TXA 21 News in Dallas.

Lindsay was recently accepted into the Baylor in New York program for spring 2012 where she will have a broadcasting internship as well. Her ultimate dream is to be on the sidelines, capturing the essence of the game, and relaying it to the public in a memorable way.

evan schwartz guest writer sportstvjobs.com Evan Schwartz is a graduating senior at the George Washington University. He was born and raised in New York City and has worked for CBS News in NYC and DC, Comcast Sportsnet, CBS Sports and ESPN. Evan is also the Washington correspondent for Sirius/XM channel OutQ.

At GWU, Evan wrote an opinion column for The GW Hatchet, and acted and directed for student theatre. He is the recipient of the 2011 Roberts Prize, 2011 Essary Writing Prize, and 2010 Richard Eaton Scholarship.

Evan has been writing his entire life and hopes to become a feature writer. He is a Giants, Knicks and Mets fan, which leads to a lot of swearing at the TV.

katie hargitt guest writer sportstvjobs.comKatie Hargitt is a junior at Ball State University majoring in telecommunications. She began racing at the age of nine, but has now turned her goals toward broadcasting racing. During the summer of 2011 she was a pit reporter for the United States Auto Club and an intern in the sports department at Fox 59 in Indianapolis.
